Starting the Japanese Grand Prix from P28 on the grid, Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Philipp Öttl could barely avoid a crash of two contenders in the first corner, but came away at the back of the field. Lap by lap, the German made up some positions to eventually see the chequered flag at the Twin Ring Motegi inside the top 20.

Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Marco Bezzecchi made it to Q2 once again during a wet and slightly cooler Saturday at the Twin Ring Motegi. The Italian intermediate class newcomer was pushing hard from the beginning of the second Qualifying and was on his way to top the session, when a technical issue halted his hunt for top times. Either way, he managed to put in a last fast lap and scored the best KTM spot with eighth position in difficult conditions.

Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Marco Bezzecchi and Philipp Öttl did their first Moto2 laps on Japanese soil today and improved throughout the first day of action.
