With a masterful Qualifying one session, Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Marco Bezzecchi managed to secure himself a place for Q2 yet again, although the slightly changing weather played a major role on Saturday at the Chang International Circuit. With some spots of rain on track shortly before the decisive session, the Italian Moto2 rookie emerged 17th, missing out on the pole position by 0.782 seconds.

Unfortunately, Philipp Öttl didn’t regain his good feeling from Friday and therefore couldn’t lower on his personal fastest lap at the Thai venue in both Free Practice 3 and Qualifying 1 today. He will start the 15th round of his still young intermediate class career tomorrow at 12.20 local time (7.20 CET) from the 10th row of the grid, eager to improve on his position.

Position: 17th

Time: 1:36.079

"Overall, it was good. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the chequered flag in the end of Q2, so I pushed for another lap, which eventually was as fast as the one of Brad Binder, but anyway, we have been working very good today. I was immediately fast this morning, as well as this afternoon. In Q2, I didn’t have that pace, but my final lap was strong, plus my rhythm is very consistent, so now we still have to adjust some small things, although we are quite close already."

Philipp Öttl

Position: 28th

Time: 1:37.084

Laps: 9

"Today was far more difficult than Friday, we struggled to improve. The only thing, we can do now, is to analyze the data to find out where we are missing out. I’m not really struggling with the bike itself, but overall, I need to go faster and we simply couldn’t manage that today."
