Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Marco Bezzecchi started the Czech Grand Prix, which saw very tight times, with a P24, losing out on a provisional Q2 entry by just 0.606 seconds.

The Italian intermediate class rookie improved by nearly one second from FP1 to FP2 at the Automotodrom Brno in the course of the day, while his teammate Philipp Öttl was back in action following his head concussion during the Catalan GP. The German Moto2 newcomer concluded his first day back at school in 29th position, impatiently waiting for tomorrow’s FP3 at 10.55 local time.

Marco Bezzecchi

Position: 24th

Time: 2:02.899

Laps: 29

"The start was ok, although we still have to work on the front. Overall, it was quite good. Now we have to wait and see for tomorrow, if it’s going to rain or not. Anyway, we already have a decent base, the gap to the front is not too huge and also to the other KTM riders. So, I’m optimistic for the rest of the weekend."

Philipp Öttl

Position: 29th

Time: 2:04.333

Laps: 30

"This morning I felt a lot better than in Barcelona and Assen after the concussion. In the second Free Practice, I think we were mistaken with the tyre choice, so we will have to change that for tomorrow. When we did the test here, the number two tyre was the better option, but now it seems to be different. Anyway, we have a good bunch of work to do."
