Launching off from P19 on the grid, Red Bull KTM Tech3 Racing’s Marco Bezzecchi showed a strong initial pace on the first three laps at the Sachsenring to pass a few contenders.

In the course of the 28 laps long race, the Italian Moto2 World Championship rookie dropped a bit, but managed to keep a steady speed to eventually end up inside the top 20.

"Yesterday I felt good with the bike, but today unfortunately, I just couldn’t find the same sensations like on Saturday. I was struggling a lot and was in trouble quite a lot. I was able to stay with the group in the first laps, but then I started to lose a lot of time. Now we need to check the data to find out what exactly happened in the race and we need to work harder in order to find solutions for the second half of the season."

"First of all, I would like to say that we felt sorry and lonely on the grid without Philipp on his home Grand Prix. This was a shame not to have him. Outside of that we wish him a strong recovery. I was exchanging a few messages with him and it looks like he is getting better and better. Regarding the whole weekend, I think Marco showed a strong performance. We did a strong Qualifying, we were the first ones to miss Q2. 19th on the grid is a decent result for us. Marco also showed a very strong pace in the damp Warm Up this morning, which is for sure helping him to get more confidence and a more positive feeling. The race was good, but we are where we are at the moment. We enjoyed a great fight with Jonas Folger, who we know is very, very fast on this circuit. Clearly, Marco is learning. He is learning quite well. Compared to the beginning of this season, we can see that he is a much better Moto2 rider. All I wish is him having a great summer break. We know, we should get something really drastically different and hopefully faster from Czech Republic from KTM for Moto2. This is what I’m going to tell him before he goes on holiday to give him a positive feeling during that period. Hopefully we will have our two riders in Brno, both of them fit and both of them on a fast bike. Outside of that, I’d like to thank the whole Red Bull KTM Moto2 crew and wish them a good summer break!"
