Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Marco Bezzecchi qualified 13th in today’s Q1 for the French Grand Prix. The Italian Moto2 newcomer had a tough time at the team’s home track from yesterday on and had to get used to the wet and partly mixed conditions aboard his machine this morning. Following the short Qualifying session, he is set to start the fifth round of the season from row nine on the grid.

On the other side of the Red Bull KTM Tech3 garage, Philipp Öttl did one fast last lap on the drying track this morning and therefore finished FP3 in fifth position. Unfortunately, he couldn’t repeat his great timing in Q1 and ended up in P18. The German intermediate class rookie is set to fight his way back tomorrow at 12.20 local time, when the red lights turn off.

Marco Bezzecchi

Position: 27th

Time: 1:52.268

Laps: 8

"Compared to this morning, in Qualifying we struggled a little bit with more water on the asphalt, therefore I was not as fast as I was hoping for. Tomorrow, we try to improve, no matter which conditions we face."

Philipp Öttl

Position: 32nd

Time: 1:53.893

Laps: 8

"To be honest, Qualifying was really difficult today. I don’t know exactly why, but I had a very strange feeling on the bike, so now we have to investigate what went wrong. In the second part of the circuit I felt quite ok, but the wet segment was not good. Compared to this morning it was completely different, so we need to sort this out now."
