The Red Bull KTM Tech3 duo concluded the first of two Qualifying sessions of the Moto2 World Championship under the impressive floodlights of the Losail International Circuit today in P14 and P15.

In the first ever two-format classification, intermediate class newcomer Marco Bezzecchi was on his way to improve his fastest time on his last lap, but got stuck in traffic. His fellow rookie teammate Philipp Öttl concluded the 15 minutes Qualifying just 0.049 seconds behind Bezzecchi. Both will have to attack from row ten on the grid when the red lights turn off at 18.20 local time (16.20 CET) tomorrow for the first race of the 2019 season.

Marco Bezzecchi

Position: 14th

Time: 2:00.880

Laps: 8

“We saw some small improvements today again, but when I wanted to try to go faster, I was behind a slower rider, who stopped me in the last two sectors. Overall, my riding is improving, in every session I feel better. The race tomorrow will for sure be important to watch the more experienced riders and learn from them. The team did a very good job and now we focus on tomorrow.”

Philipp Öttl

Position: 15th

Time: 2:00.929

Laps: 8

“We did a step forward today and lead everything a bit more towards the right direction. In Warm Up tomorrow, I hope I can continue this work. We changed the bike a bit, which helped me as well to have a better corner entry and brake later. Now we have to see to confirm this tomorrow and do the next step.”
