Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Marco Bezzecchi and Philipp Öttl conclude the opening day of the sixth round in 2019 with some ideas for Saturday. The local rider showed a decent progress in the course of Friday and lowered his lap time by 0.765 seconds from the first to the second Free Practice session, but unfortunately recorded a crash quite early in FP2, which ended his chase for strong lap times early. Fortunately, the intermediate class newcomer came away from it without any major injury.

Meanwhile, Öttl was confident this morning and likewise improved from the morning to the afternoon session by 0.39 seconds after doing 35 laps in total. The Moto2 rookie finished the first day directly behind his teammate and is looking forward to do another step on Saturday, which starts at 10.55 local time with FP3.

Marco Bezzecchi

Position: 26th

Time: 1:53.705

Laps: 22

"Today was not so easy, but at the end, we found some positive points, where we can start to work on from tomorrow. Unfortunately, all the time, I feel I can go faster, I go down. I feel like I didn’t have any feedback from the bike, so for me it’s difficult to understand the limit and I crash. Before this I was going a lot faster than this morning and I felt better, although there are still many points we need to improve tomorrow. We also try to work on the positive parts in order to be even faster. We continue to work hard and push and of course, we don’t give up!"

Philipp Öttl

Position: 27th

Time: 1:53.920

Laps: 35

"The first Free Practice was quite ok today, but to be honest, with the second half of the second session I’m not so happy, because I was riding way too aggressive with the new tyre. I know, I have calm myself down a little bit in this phase, so I can use the potential a lot better."
