Changing weather conditions made life hard for the Moto2 World Championship today. Nevertheless, the Tech3 Racing team duo seized a decent start to the 16th round of the 2018 season.

Although the track surface was far from ideal, Bo Bendsneyder went out in the last minutes of FP1 to improve the lap time he set earlier significantly, finishing in 15th position. Later on, the Dutch rookie was fighting again to learn the track, concluding Friday in P19. Meanwhile, Remy Gardner did just six quick laps this morning to emerge in eighth place. Following another mixed session this afternoon, the Australian ended up 0.034 seconds behind his teammate.

Remy Gardner“Today was difficult with the weather, but finally we worked quite good in these conditions. We have to wait and see what will happen tomorrow. It looks like it could be similar, so we focussed a lot today to have a good setup for Saturday. In the end, I’m quite happy with the work we did, so let’s see what tomorrow will bring”

Bo Bendsneyder“We had very mixed conditions all day here, it was not really wet and not really dry, so it was not too exciting this morning. In FP2 it was starting to dry out in the beginning, we started with the harder tyres, but went to the soft by the middle of the session. I could only do one lap with them before it started to rain again, unfortunately. Anyway, we know what we need to do just from that single lap and found a bit of a direction, so I think we can be strong for the weekend. The position is definitely not where we want to be, but we’re confident for tomorrow.
