Following a fantastic Qualifying, Remy Gardner and Bo Bendsneyder didn’t get the chance today to convert their second and 18th starting position into a great race, as the British GP had to be cancelled today due to persistent rain and standing water on the new Silverstone circuit asphalt.

Championship: 18th – Points: 20

Gardner - 2018It’s really a pity that the race was cancelled and I never got to line up on the front row. Anyway, I need to take the positives from the weekend. I have been in the parc fermé for the first time, so that was cool. It’s just such a big shame because I thought we could have done such a great result here in the wet as I think we were probably one of the fastest. So, what could have been, anyway, we need to keep our heads high and move on to Misano.

Bo Bendsneyder

Championship: 29th – Points: -

Bendsneyder - 2018I’m really disappointed that the race was canceled but the priority is to ride safe and today it wasn’t safe. We had a good Qualifying yesterday, so with that feeling we move to Misano and work hard there again!”

Team Manager

The Moto2 race was dictated by the MotoGP riders’ decision not to race, so once the MotoGP riders decided not to race it was obvious that Moto2 and Moto3 will be cancelled. I feel very, very sorry for Remy, who had a great weekend, Qualifying, Warm Up, all weekend long, he has been fast and I think it could have been an incredible weekend for him and as well as Bo. He did by far the best weekend of the year and I think it would have been good for him to show what he can do. It’s not going to happen, so we have to accept the decision, move on and try to do the same Qualifying with our two riders in Misano.”

Tech3 Racing team rider Remy Gardner performed superbly in today’s Qualifying at the Silverstone circuit to secure the first ever front row start of his career in second. Thereby, the young Australian missed out on the pole position by just a whisker during the last seconds of the session, which took place in mixed conditions

Meanwhile, Bo Bendsneyder showed his talent as well. The Dutch intermediate class rookie improved during the weekend, although changing weather delivered some tricky track time. Bendsneyder eventually ended up in 18th position, which equals his best ever starting spot in the highly-competitive Moto2 category.

Remy Gardner

Position: 2nd- Time: 2’08.347 - Laps: 14

Remy GardnerIt’s just incredible! I didn’t even know I was in the front row until half the lap was done, I looked at a screen and saw second. It’s a fantastic feeling, I definitely didn’t expect to be here some months ago with two broken legs. I made a great comeback and honestly, I’m pretty lost for words at the moment.

Bo Bendsneyder

Position: 18th- Time: 2’09.323 - Laps: 13

Bo BendsneyderIt was a good Qualifying, different than normal because we needed to find out if it was dry or wet. Finally, it was not completely dry but dry enough to set a good lap time. Just on the last lap, I was behind a slower rider and I lost a little time. In the end, P18 for a not so easy weekend is a good result. We worked hard for this. The lap was good and also my fastest at this circuit with the Moto2 machine. Now we have to wait and see how the weather will be tomorrow, but for sure, we will push hard.

Tech3 Racing’s Remy Gardner immediately found a great feeling from the word go at the Silverstone circuit this morning and was proving his incredible wet skills later in rainy FP2 today. Meanwhile, Bo Bendsneyder struggled in the first session of the weekend but made a huge step in the afternoon and found some good sensations on wet tarmac as well. Both, Gardner and Bendsneyder feel well prepared for any conditions for the remainder of the British Grand Prix weekend.

Remy Gardner

Position: 17th- Time: 2’09.726 - Laps: 28

Remy GardnerThis has been a pretty positive day here in Silverstone. We didn’t put the soft tyre in in the dry this morning, but even with the harder option I felt like I could have gone faster, so I think we are not too bad. In FP2 I did one lap in the dry with the softer tyre and I felt really confident immediately, then it started to rain. It was good fun in the rain as always.

Bo Bendsneyder

Position: 24th- Time: 2'10.530 - Laps: 29

Bo BendsneyderTo be honest, this morning it was quite difficult. I was struggling with the front, but then we changed and made a big step. Finally, FP2 was wet, so we made one lap and I felt it was a bit better although I went out with a used rear tyre. In the rain I felt quite comfortable. I used the practice quite well, focusing on my pace and I was improving step by step, so we are well prepared if it rains on Sunday. We need to be ready in both conditions, therefore I already look forward to work even harder tomorrow.
