Tech3 Racing rider Bo Bendsneyder showed his home fans his best ever Moto2 race today. The local hero did an incredible strong second half of the Dutch Grand Prix, making up one position by another while moving from P24 on the grid to P14, which would have meant his first ever intermediate class points. Although, the Moto2 rookie had to accept a 1.4 seconds penalty after swinging off the track at the beginning of the race.

On the other side, Remy Gardner did some fantastic first laps and carved out a way close to the points scoring positions, following a start from P18. Unfortunately, the fast Australian lost some positions, struggling slightly to keep the fast pace of the very competitive riders in front to eventually end up in 18th. Yet, Gardner is eagerly awaiting the upcoming ninth round of the championship in just 12 days’ time at the Sachsenring in Germany.

Gardner - 2018“In the beginning it was really tough because the rear was sliding from the first laps on. To do the 39’ low, I had to push a lot and also physically it was very hard to control the bike. But I knew that my opponents would have the same struggle with losing grip in the end and I took the advantage to keep my pace. Step by step I overtook them and finally, I arrived in P14. Just with the penalty we miss out on the points again, but we showed that we can be there. Thanks to my guys!

Remy Gardner

Position: 18th – Championship: 18th – Points: 15

Bendsneyder - 2018We had some really good first two days this weekend, but a truly difficult race. The first three laps I was doing not too bad until something happened. It felt like the tyre went off and I’ve had unbelievable chatter, which we never had the whole weekend. I was losing the front everywhere and just had no confidence. It was hard to just bring the bike home, which is pretty disappointing at the end of such a strong weekend. There is not much more to say, all we need to do now is looking forward to Sachsenring”

Team Manager

It has been a tough weekend for Tech3 Moto2 Racing, although everybody worked hard, tried hard and did quite a good job all through the weekend. The pace was really high for the whole grid. The gap was very small, everything was so close. In the end, Remy faded in the second part of the race. On the other hand, Bo made a really strong second part of the race, passing quite a lot of fast riders and having a great rhythm. Unfortunately, I think he cut the chicane and he had a 1.4 seconds penalty, which took him from 14 to 17, which is a pity, because this could have been his first ever Moto2 points. Anyway, I want to thank both, Bo and Remy for their hard work. They pushed and we know very well that it’s not easy to be inside the top 15, but this is going to give some confidence to Bo and hopefully Remy will be in an even better physical condition after his heavy accident. Sachsenring is going to be the last race before the summer break and it would be a dream to have our two guys in the points before we go on vacation.”
