The Tech3 Racing duo of Bo Bendsneyder and Remy Gardner was back at Jerez, Spain this week for the ultimate test before the 2018 season kicks off with the traditional opener, the Qatar Grand Prix in just eight days’ time.

In the course of the three days Bendsneyder was able to improve his fastest time from day one by 1.334 seconds to conclude the final preparations in 13th position overall. Thereby, the flying Dutchman was working through an extensive schedule in order to be perfectly positioned for his first ever Moto2 race next week. Meanwhile, Gardner impressed with the fourth quickest lap time on wet tarmac this morning. The Australian decreased his lap time by one second, completing the test just 0.214 seconds behind his team mate in 18th and is eager to prove his good feeling aboard the Mistral 610 in race conditions.

Bo Bendsneyder

Position: 13th - Time: 1’42.528 - Laps: 102

Bo Bendsneyder “It was three positive days. We were quite lucky with the weather, because the forecast said just one dry day and in the end, we got nearly three. Especially the second day was good to try many things. At the start, we struggled a little bit, but finally we changed the bike in the front and step by step, we were improving. We just focused on the race pace and did a simulation, where I did my best time in the last lap. I was also able to ride consistently in the 42s. I’m happy about the work we’ve done and I’m looking forward to Qatar.”

Remy Gardner

Position: 19th - Time: 1'42.742 - Laps: 95

Remy Gardner“We finished testing early, after doing some laps in the wet this morning, which was quite successful. I think we could have refined our setup a bit in the afternoon, but we didn’t want to risk anything before the race. Overall, this test was decent, unfortunately I had two strange tyres and we couldn’t understand why we were not able to go fast. Then we put a different set of tyres on and were working towards a setting that was suiting the poor tyres. I would say, we are ready for Qatar. I think we can have a strong start into the season, although the final result doesn’t really reflect our potential.”

The Tech3 Racing duo of Bo Bendsneyder and Remy Gardner was back on track this week for the first official Moto2 test at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, close to Valencia. With a rainy first day, the intermediate class rookie Bendsneyder got into grips with his Mistral 610 machine from Wednesday on, finishing the test in 12th position overall and missed out on the top by just one second.

On the other side of the Tech3 Racing team garage, Gardner was eager to shake of the rust from this winter to continue improving his lap times around the Spanish venue. With a fastest lap of 1’37.033 the Australian clinched 15th position of the overall ranking. Following this weekend, the promising pair will complete another three days’ test in Jerez, Spain, in order to perfectly prepare the upcoming 2018 season in the hard-fought Moto2 category.

Bo Bendsneyder

Position: 12th - Time: 1'36.843 - Laps: 60

Bendsneyder - 2018
“It has been two positive days, we tested quite a lot of things and I was finally back on the bike, which is the most important thing. We didn’t have the best weather and with it not ideal conditions, yet we were able to do quite some laps on Wednesday and Thursday. I’m happy about the first test this year and I’m looking forward to Jerez. I hope we can improve some points there and I can’t wait to be sitting on the bike very soon again.“

Remy Gardner

Position: 15th - Time: 1'37.033 - Laps: 45

Gardner - 2018
“On day one we couldn’t get any riding in, because it was too wet and too cold. In the course of the following days, we had dry conditions and therefore the opportunity to get back the feeling with the bike. It was a good test, we found out some things that are really important, which hopefully leads us into the right direction for the future. We still need to work on the setting, as we struggle a bit with some chatter, but I’m sure we will get there.“

Moto2 rookie Bo Bendsneyder continued to impress and make leaps forward in his second track appearance aboard the Mistral 610. The promising Dutch rider proceeded to gel more with the bike and team in preparation for his debut season in 2018, before powering to a time that left him four tenths back from the top ten.

Meanwhile, Remy Gardner concluded the two-day test with a confident display to gain some encouraging results in the final track appearance of 2017. The Australian worked relentlessly with his team and now optimistically awaits the forthcoming season.

Bo Bendsneyder

Position: 16th - Time: 1'36.002 - Laps: 73

Bendsneyder - 2017“We had two nice, productive days of testing here in Valencia. I gained a lot of knowledge about the bike, and it felt like I learnt more on every lap. I’m a bit disappointed that winter is coming because I am keen to get back on my Mistral, but I am happy to finish this test in a positive way. Thanks to the Tech3 Racing Team for their great work and I am looking forward to next year!“

Remy Gardner

Position: 19th - Time: 1'36.152 - Laps: 64

Gardner - 2017“Although the result may not look as good as what we wanted, I think we certainly improved our setting. It was getting a bit challenging, however, I then went out on Xavi’s bike and went faster. I wasn’t pushing but there was a lot more rear grip. I think we have more to learn, so maybe if we use some of those settings and the engine, then we can get onto the right path. Overall, it’s a positive end and we are well on our way to being ready for next year. Now it’s time to train and relax, but I’m excited already for 2018."
