Remy Gardner fought against the treacherous conditions to complete the eventful San Marino GP in 13th. When the shootout began, he bolted forward from the eighth row and by the mid point he was running in 8th. Gardner then fell on the 15th lap but he jumped back on his Mistral 610 and continued to push before falling again at turn 6 with three laps to go. Yet he remained resolute and finally completed the race in 13th.

Meanwhile, Xavi Vierge’s hopes of a top finish were dashed after he fell on the third lap, but he bravely remounted to complete the sprint in 15th. When the lights went out, Vierge bolted forward and moved up to 9th by the close of the first lap having started from 15th. However, the young Spaniard’s luck ran out as he crashed shortly after, but he re-joined the race and powered onwards before eventually finishing inside the points.

Xavi Vierge will commence the San Marino GP from the rear of the fifth row of the grid after a confidence boosting outing this afternoon. The rapid young Spaniard and his Tech3 crew made some key changes in-between FP3 and qualifying, which allowed him to complete the shootout only 0.491 back from the front row. Tomorrow he seeks to bring his Mistral 610 home in a solid point scoring position in the 26 lap sprint which begins at 12:20 local time.

Meanwhile, Remy Gardner will begin the 13th round from head of the eighth row after finishing just 0.371 back from his teammate. With wet weather expected tomorrow, the young Australian aims to take advantage of the conditions and close the weekend inside the points.

The Tech3 Racing Team duo kicked off their San Marino Grand Prix campaigns with two determined efforts on the Adriatic coast today. An unfortunate crash in free practice 1 slowed Xavi Vierge’s progress, yet he positively bounced back this afternoon to finish only 0.338 back from the top ten in the ultra competitive intermediate class. Whilst Remy Gardner also suffered a fall in the morning, but bravely returned to the track and then, in FP2, he pushed non-stop before ending up only 0.052 behind his teammate. The action resumes tomorrow at 10:55 with FP3.
