The Tech3 Racing team riders wasted no time in putting in the hard work at the physically demanding Circuit of The Americas as they seek to clinch two positive results in Sunday’s 19 lap race. Xavi Vierge battled against the track in the highly competitive class and after making steps forward as the day progressed, he finished with a personal best that left him less than a second back from 2nd. Whilst Julian Simon, who is standing in for the injured Remy Gardner at this round, got his first sample of the Mistral 610. The experienced Spaniard wrapped up the day with a time that was seven-tenths behind Vierge after pushing non-stop with the Tech3 team and now he confidently looks on to tomorrow. Both riders fully intend to continue their solid efforts in FP3, which commences at 10:55 local time or 17:55 in Europe.

Xavi Vierge

Position: 14th - Time: 2'11.868 - Laps:14

Vierge - 2017“It was a bit of a challenging day, but we will work hard tomorrow and I’m sure that we can get back to where we want to be. FP1 was tricky because I wasn’t able to find a good feeling with the Mistral. However, in the afternoon, the situation improved because I tried a few new things on the bike which were much better for my riding style. Yet, it wasn’t quite enough and at the moment when we run a new tyre, I am experiencing a few issues with the front. I need to work hard with the team in order to find the solution, but I am confident that we can turn things around and deliver a successful qualifying performance."

Julian Simon

Position: 24th - Time: 2'12.583 - Laps:13

Gardner - 2017“Firstly, I must start by saying that I am really happy to participate at this Grand Prix with the Tech3 Racing Team. The crew are superb and it’s an honour for me to race for them as they have such a big history. I have to also state that I hope Remy recovers well. My first impression of the bike is fantastic. It was very smooth when changing direction and the level of grip is not bad and more or less comparable to the other Moto2 bikes that I have ridden. With regards to my race weekend, I need to improve the braking because there are a lot of hard braking areas at the track. However, for sure tomorrow we will make another step forward so that we can achieve the best possible result on Sunday."
